The Colonel Noel Percy Adams Trust (Melrose) Society was established in 1974 when the house and grounds were gifted to the Nelson City Council by Colonel Noel Percy Adams.
The trust is a registered charitable, not for profit incorporated society comprised solely of volunteers who oversee the governance of the house. The grounds are maintained by Nelmac.

Renovation project 2012 / 2013
The next significant renovation project to be managed by the Melrose House Society is the upgrade of the ground floor toilets. Seeking funding for this is a major project in itself requires the generosity of as many individuals and organisations as possible.

Be part of this renovation - your donation of any size is very welcome.

Refurbishment projects
Refurbishment of the grand central stairwell was completed during the first half of 2012 with stunning new wallpaper and restored woodwork though-out the stairwell, foyer and hallways. Thanks go to the Canterbury Community Trust for this funding. More recently, the carpet has been replaced on the stairs and landing with the assistance of a grant from Pub Charities.

Other recent enhancements include the installation of a superb radiator heating system, ceiling and under-floor insulation, a fire safety sprinkler system, beautiful period-style drapes and replica period door hardware; all achieved with the considerable help of community funding organisations.

Numerous maintenance, upgrades and general repairs are going on all the time thanks to our many volunteers for their efforts, time and donation of materials.

LEAVE A LEGACY FOR FUTURE GENERATIONS

Nelson Bays Community Foundation will receive and hold your bequest or endowment on behalf of the Colonel Noel Percy Adams Trust (Melrose Society) to ensure Melrose House remains protected and maintained in perpetuity. We invite you to be a part of the legacy of generosity in which the house was originally gifted to the people of Nelson.

The mission of the Foundation is to prudently invest funds raised from donations, grants and legacies, leave the capital intact and distribute the earnings to organisations in the Nelson Bays area according to the donor's wishes.

By working together we can all help preserve Melrose Historic House for future generations.
Thank you for your support!
